I wore them with white socks and long dresses. I wore them with colorful socks and jeans on the weekend. Then I moved and can't find them anywhere!!! I was absolutely devastated! I remember wearing them with tights and skirts with sweaters during winter. I had a pair of DM Mary Janes when I was in my 20's and I absolutely loved it for the last 10 years. I'll enjoy reliving my 90s adolescence through these several times per week. If I had to unbuckle these every time I put these on, I wouldn't keep them. Fortunately, once the buckles are adjusted, you can slip your foot in without undoing them (a shoehorn would be helpful here), so it's ok. I also felt like I was on the verge of breaking the buckles the entire time. Like, I literally spent 10 minutes on that. My only complaint about these is that the buckles are RIDICULOUSLY difficult to adjust. I wore them for the first time to IKEA this weekend, and for the first time ever, made it out of there without aching feet, so, enough said. The air cushioned sole really does make a difference. Even not yet broken in, I find these amazingly comfortable. Not a big deal to me, but to those with more sensitive feet, be forewarned. Comfort wise, well, they are Docs, so they have a break in period. If you're between sizes, I would say to size down. I sized down in these and got the UK 7/US 9. From a comfort and fit perspective: I normally wear a 9.5, but often buy a 10 to accomodate thick socks, and just because my feet are a tiny bit wide (but wide enough to necessitate a wide width shoe), so the extra room is helpful. They look cuter on the foot than they do in the picture, for those of you that didn't wear these the first time around. From a style perspective, these are classic clunky 90s shoes, exactly like you remember them from your babydoll dress and ripped tights outfit in 1995. Plain and simple, I can't tell a difference. My two cents about the quality is this: Upon initial inspection and a few wears, these look and feel no different from the made in England Docs of my youth. There seem to be mixed reviews about the quality given that change. M has shifted production from England to various countries in Southeast and East Asia since that time. This is the first pair of Doc I've purchase since around 1996.
